Register your interest for a scholarship

You’ve selected the scholarship option, so we need to gather a few more details from you (below). We really want to make sure cost is not a barrier to attending, and that we get an inclusive mix of attendees at each event. Scholarships are in high demand (50% of people last event requested one!). So, we'll prioritise based on need, and be in touch once we’ve confirmed your spot. We’ll refund your $100 if we aren’t able to offer you a scholarship. You are welcome to upgrade to a full ticket at any stage.

We will be prioritising those who have not attended Crowd Round before. If you have received a scholarship before, it is unlikely that you will receive one again.

Due to the costs involved, a scholarship ticket cannot include childcare. If you require childcare, we hope that you can find a way to purchase a Doer ticket.

Provide their names and email addresses, and we'll send them a love note telling them to register their interest (we won't say you told us, unless you tell us to!). The more info the better to tell them why they'd be a good fit.

Cancellation Policy

As inspired by WWGSD, our event is not designed to make a profit - we’re organised to break even on costs (accommodation, food, scholarships, swag and organising costs), with anything left over going towards future Unconference events.

To ensure this happens we have put into place a cancellation and refund policy. We have a number of costs we have to meet, including venue and food costs, that do not change if an attendee doesn't turn up.

Our cancellation and refund policy is:

  • If you cancel your ticket giving us 3 weeks or more notice then we will refund you in full.

  • If you cancel your ticket giving us two weeks notice we will refund 50% of the ticket price.

  • If you cancel your ticket within two weeks we will not refund the price of the ticket.

Even up until the day before, we will try to match you with someone who wants to buy your ticket. We can't promise it'll definitely happen, but we will definitely try. If you require a cancellation please contact our team on

Code of Conduct

This code of conduct was inspired by codes from WWGSD NZGeek FeminismKiwicon, and Kiwi Foo. Thanks to everyone who’s put time, love, and hard work into developing robust, inclusive codes of conduct. Ya'll rock.

Crowd Round Innovation Unconference is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for all participants, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, age, ethnicity, disability, physical appearance, body size, and/or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of attendees in any form. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the organisers.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • offensive verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination (related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion)

  • deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following

  • harassing photography or recording

  • sustained disruption of talks or other events

  • inappropriate physical contact

  • unwelcome sexual attention

  • advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the organisers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event. Organisers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event, or making the environment hostile for any participants. Alcohol is provided for those who wish to imbibe responsibly. It is a lubricant not a swimming pool. Participants who become intoxicated or otherwise disrupt the event may be expelled from the event without refund. We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities (and in everyday life too!).

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. Conference staff can be identified by their staff lanyards. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everything. We want you to be happy at Crowd Round - people like you make our unconference a better place. You can make a report in person or anonymously.

Personal report

You can make a personal report by:

  • Calling or messaging one of the organisers listed on the welcome board and in your conference pack. These phones will be monitored throughout the event.

  • Speaking to an organiser, identified by their lanyards, or to your small group leader.

When taking a personal report, our team will ensure you are safe and cannot be overheard. They may involve other team members to ensure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we’ll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we’ll handle it as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won’t be asked to confront anyone and we won’t tell anyone who you are.

Anonymous Report

You can make an anonymous report using the form at We can’t follow up an anonymous report with you directly, but we will fully investigate it and take whatever action is necessary to prevent a recurrence.

Our team will be happy to help you contact venue security, local law enforcement, support services, provide escorts, or otherwise assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
